The following is a sample radio transmission used for officer training purposes:
Legend Dispatch Unit 1a1 Unit 1a2
(Traffic Accident Reported at the Intersection of Frankfort and Topaz)
Dispatch, 1Adam1
1Adam1
Could you respond to an accident at the intersection of Frankfort and Topaz?
Affirm Dispatch, en route
(Requesting Additional Unit)
1Adam1, Dispatch
1Adam1
Requesting 10-41 at Intersection of Frankfort and Topaz
Copy 1Adam1 requesting additional unit at Frankfort and Topaz
(If you are a unit in the area of assistance needed at this time, then you may begin to proceed to the location but do not yell out to dispatch that you're en route directly after the call goes out. It might take dispatch a few seconds to figure out which available unit to send, but dispatch will know best.)
Dispatch, 1Adam2 can you respond to Frankfort and Topaz?
(Normally dispatch would wait for a response from a unit before assigning a call, but there is a possibility that the unit will be busy so dispatch may have to shift between a few units.)
1Adam2 that's affirm show me 10-51.
